About the Site

For 10 days every July, the Calgary Stampede brings together more than one million people from around the world to celebrate western heritage and values. While not everyone will don their cowboy hats, the values at the core of the Stampede—Western hospitality, Integrity, Pride of place and Commitment to the community—are applicable to all.

Rodeo The Calgary Stampede is a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that offers year-round events, from western activities to youth and agricultural programs. At the 10-day Stampede, visitors can see concerts, take part in western-themed activities, watch rodeo events and more.

The Calgary Stampede celebrates its 100th year anniversary in 2012. To commemorate this milestone, Canadian Geographic has created an online interactive map of Stampede Park, the Calgary Stampede’s fairgrounds. Visitors of this year’s Calgary Stampede on July 6-15 can use this map as a tool to plan their visit and learn more about The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and each of its venues.

Users can click on the venues, which are clearly marked and colour-coded, to learn more about their history, what to expect at this year’s Stampede and a list of events. Information about the best dining spots, shopping areas as well as view a gallery of images from past Stampedes is also included on this interactive map.
